Our unique model

Our scientific discovery model is unique

It is a FIRST

The i-Forget initiative is an example of community-based scientific discovery.  We collaborate with academics and uphold the highest scientific standards, but are not university-administrated top-down science. This allows our participants to help formulate research questions,  receive results and benefit directly from their involvement.

Unlike traditional research projects, participants get important personal insights about their own risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Participants are actively involved

Donors of bio-medical data will learn about their own inherited and acquired risks while observing the scientific process of creating new approaches to memory preservation. They will also “give back” by creating a new data source from which they and future generations could benefit.

A fresh and practical approach

The novelty of this approach is linking gut health, genetics, lifestyle, and brain performance in a higher-risk group and then identifying strategies to change the disease trajectory. All of this is in the service of brain health preservation - a benefit to participants.

Prevention-oriented

Our mission is to translate these discoveries into simple interventions that can change the course of cognitive decline.  We aim to create new intellectual property that identifies which specific bacterial targets cause disease. This is a departure point for a new era of cognitive preservation and other prevention strategies.

A robust analytical framework

The dataset will have much broader applicability because we document general health status and conditions over time. The i-Forget initiative will provide high-dimension data (10,000 subjects) to university-based data analysis groups to discover genetic/microbiota interactions explaining cognitive decline.

The health data we collect could identify intestinal microbiota/genetic interaction that could prevent cancer, cardiovascular disease, endocrine, autoimmune and mental.

Non-profit focused

Any commercial proceeds will be reinvested into the i-Forget non-profit organization.
